NC active membership dispute to be settled today



KATHMANDU: Disputes related to the active membership of the Nepali Congress (NC) will be settled today, party leadershave said.

A committee comprising party leaders Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Dr. Minendra Rijal and Ramesh Lekhak said that the committee will submit its report by 5 pm Monday.

Although the committee has reached a consensus on most of the disputes, it is yet to finalize the disputes in three districts, including Bara, Saptari and Rautahat.

A meeting of the committee will be held in Baluwatar after 1 pm.

It has been said that the final decision will be taken from the same meeting and the report will be submitted to party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also the Prime Minister, at 5 o’clock on Tuesday.

A central working committee meeting had entrusted former General Secretary Sitaula, Rijal and Lekhak to sort out the row by August 19.

The 14th General Convention of the NC which was deferred time and again due to the active membership row has been slated for November 25-29.
