KATHMANDU: Second rung leaders of the CPN-UML who did not lend support to Madhav Kumar Nepal in breaking away from the mother party to form CPN-United Socialist have issued a joint press statement calling for party unity.
Following a meeting held at a party palace based at Basundhara on Friday, leaders including Bhim Rawal and Surendra Pandey issued a press note stating that the solution to the existing intraparty dispute of the UML should be sought through the existing provision of the party.
The third faction of the UML in the joint press note has concluded that the party unification is very important in the context of current national and international political scenarios.
They have also appealed to all the honest leaders and cadres to stand united to save the party from further disintegration.
“It would be prudent and wiser to resolve the internal differences in line with the party statute and agreements signed so far,” reads the press note, adding, “Domestic and foreign reactionary forces are bent on splitting the UML.”
Similarly, emphasis has been laid on the need to sort out the intra-party dispute on the political and ideological issues in accordance with the lawful system of the UML.
