KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has warned of protesting the ordinance brought to amend Political Parties Act in order to facilitate split of political parties.
A Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the UML held in Chyasal Tuesday protested the end of the parliamentary session in bid to issue ordinance to amend Political Parties Act.
UML spokesperson Pradip Kumar Gyawali said that they would protest against the political party-splitting ordinance through mass mobilization in a democratic and peaceful manner. He warned that the government must be responsible for the consequences of the ordinance.
The UML is of the view that the ordinance meant for faciliating split of political parties would divide the democratic system itself and push the system towards crisis. “It is objectionable and unacceptable to us as it prepares ground to invite ill-practices and corruption,” Gyawali said.
