KATHMANDU: Hari Shankar Mishra has been appointed as the Chief of Province 2.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari appointed Mishra as the Province Chief on the recommendation of the government.

The government on Monday recommended the removal of Rajesh Jha Ahiraj from the post of Province Chief of Province No. 2 and the appointment of Hari Shankar Mishra.

Mishra is a former Congress leader.

Ahiraj was appointed by the erstwhile KP Oli-led government in February.

Earlier, the Deuba government had removed the provincial heads appointed by the previous government in Lumbini and Gandaki.
