NC’s 22 invited central members resign en masse

KATHMANDU: As many as 22 invited central members of the Nepali Congress (NC) have resigned en masse at the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting held at NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha Friday.

Central member Kalyan Gurung confirmed that 22 invited central members had resigned en masse.

Central member Kiran Poudel added they resigned citing the disparity between NC office-bearers, central members and invited central members for participation in the general convention. NC office-bearers and central members can participate in the general convention automatically whereas the provision for invited central members is not the same.

The invited central members, who resigned, demanded removal of the provision by which presidents of all levels ought to be elected from the booth to be candidates in the general convention. They sought same rights as that of regional representatives to be incorporated in NC statute.
