Media Council Bill for greater good of journalists: Minister Baskota



BIDUR: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota today said the proposed Media Council Bill was being brought in favor of journalists.

Speaking at a press conference in Bidur today, he said that new rules were aimed at ensuring journalists’ rights and welfare.

He said some media owners have been raising their voices against the bill because of the fear of facing music since they were not paying their employees a minimum wage determined by the government.

Minister Baskota urged working journalists to be assured while pledging security and rights.

He brushed aside allegations that the government was controlling the media.
