Maoist leader Kul Prasad KC appointed Chief Minister in Lumbini Province



KATHMANDU: Chief of Lumbini Province Amik Sherchan has appointed Maoist Center’s parliamentary party leader Kul Prasad KC as the new Chief Minister in the province.

KC was appointed CM Thursday following his claim to the post with the majority support of the Maoist Center, Nepali Congress (NC), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Janamorcha.

Chief Minister Shankar Pokhrel had resigned from the post on Wednesday.

Chief Minister KC is scheduled to be sworn in at the Office of the Chief of Province at 4 pm, according to the Office of the Chief of Province.

The coalition in Lumbini is also preparing to expand a five-member cabinet.

Dilli Chaudhary from the NC, and Sahasram Chaudhary, Fulmati Denga and Suman Sharma Rayamajhi from the JSP are likely to become Ministers in CM KC’s cabinet.
