Three arrested while selling tortoise



KATHMANDU: Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police has arrested three persons from Kathmandu while they were selling tortoise, the protected wildlife.

They are Bishal Sunar and Bikram Sunar of Indrasarobar rural municipality-2 in Makawanpur district and Bhuwan Rai of Urlabari, Morang, said Bureau Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police, Shyam Kumar Mahato.

A police team deputed to investigate and control crime related to smuggling of wildlife and plants arrested them from Pharping of Dakshinkali municipality-6, Kathmandu. The team also impounded a live tortoise from them.

The Bureau today shared that the arrestees have been sent to Division Forest Office, Hattisar for necessary action. The process has been forwarded to take action against them as per the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act-2029.
