Patan High Court acquits former Speaker Mahara in alleged rape case

KATHMANDU: Former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara has been given an acquittal by Patan High Court in an attempt to rape case filed against him.

According to Patan High Court sources, the court upheld the decision of Kathmandu District Court on Tuesday.

A division bench of Patan High Court comprising justices Madhav Prasad Pokhrel and Bimal Subedi decided to uphold the verdict of the Kathmandu District Court in the case against Mahara.

Kathmandu District Court had exonerated Mahara in an alleged attempt to rape case.

A case was filed against Mahara alleging that he forced a female employee at Parliament Secretariat to establish physical relation with him while he was the Speaker.
