Ruling coalition partners to form a task force to assist govt

KATHMANDU: Coalition parties are set to form a task force to support the government led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba — who is also the president of the Nepali Congress (NC).

The leaders are currently in discussion to form a task force to move forward as per the agreement by holding mutual discussions on issues including distribution of ministries, among other major issues, as part of the minimum common program.

NC General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka is leading the party in the task force, party sources have said.

It is likely that the task force will be formed on Friday itself, the leader said, adding that the top leaders may hold a meeting this afternoon.

The task force is being formed with two members each from the parties.

The coalition partners include NC, CPN-Maoist Center, Upendra Yadav faction of Janata Samajwadi Party, and Rastriya Janamorcha.
