UML leader Bhim Rawal announces resignation from the post of lawmaker



KATHAMANDU: Influential leader of CPN-UML’s Khanal-Nepal faction Dr. Bhim Rawal has announced his resignation from the post of lawmaker on the day his faction decided to vote for Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

CPN-UML Vice Chairman Rawal was elected from Constituency No. 1, Achham. He announced his resignation at a meeting of Khanal-Nepal faction lawmakers at Singha Durbar on Sunday.

Earlier, 26 UML lawmakers, including Rawal, had signed the petition seeking NC President Deuba’s appointment to the post of prime minister to do away with the arbitrary rule of UML Chairman KP Oli.

Stating that immoral political activities were seen at the highest level in politics, Rawal said that he would not be a traitor to the country and would not join anti-people politics.

“Therefore, I would like to refrain myself from being a traitor and continue the anti-people politics,” he told reporters.
