NC PP meet issues whip for mandatory presence of its lawmakers in HoR session



KATHMANDU: The meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party (PP) has issued a whip to all its lawmakers to be compulsorily present at the parliament session later Sunday.

The NC PP meeting began at around 3 pm, an hour late than planned, at the federal parliament building in New Baneshwor Sunday afternoon. It was the first PP meeting of the party after party President Sher Bahadur Deuba became prime minister.

PM Deuba is slated to seek a vote of confidence in the parliament session later Sunday. The parliament is convening at 4 pm as per the Supreme Court order.

The opposition alliance comprising NC with 61 lawmakers, Maoist Center with 49 lawmakers, JSP with 17 lawmakers of Upendra Yadav faction and the Rastriya Janamorcha with one lawmaker in the parliament have decided to give confidence vote to PM Deuba. Moreover, as many as 26 lawmakers of UML’s Madhav Kumar Nepal faction are also likely to give their confidence vote.

Deuba was appointed prime minister as per Article 76 (5) of the constitution.
