KATHMANDU: A meeting of the CPN-UML Standing Committee (SC) is underway at Tulsi Lal Memorial Foundation in Chyasal, Lalitpur.

Chairman KP Oli had called a meeting of the SC Sunday.

The faction led by Madhav Kumar Nepal has however remained absent.

Leaders close to Chairman Oli, including Bishnu Poudel, Subash Nemwang and Shanker Pokhrel, also the members of the task force, had earlier reached Koteswor to meet leader Nepal this morning.

The party is currently on the verge of a split as the party’s senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal faction has been adamant about its stance of giving a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

However, efforts have been made to make the party unity intact.

The UML had held its SC meeting and parliamentary party (PP) meeting Friday.

Leaders close to senior leader Nepal had abstained from both the meetings on Friday.

The unilateral SC meeting endorsed the 10-point resolution prepared by the dispute resolution task force.
