NC has to still sort out active membership row in 55 constituencies out of 165

KATHMANDU: With barely one and a half months to go before the 14th General Convention of the party, Nepali Congress (NC) still has to finalize the issue of active memberships in 55 constituencies.

The NC has to sort out the issue of active memberships in 55 constituencies out of 165 across the country. Active members are the primary voters for the 14th General Convention of the party slated for September 1-4.

A total of 850,000 active members from 165 constituencies of 77 districts have been registered.  The Active Memberships Investigation Committee has sorted out the issue of active memberships in 110 constituencies so far.

Central member Pradeep Paudel, who is also the spokesperson of the Committee, informed that work of active memberships has been finalized in 110 constituencies of 64 districts. There had been disputes over the active memberships in 550 wards. Of them, the issue has been sorted out in over 300 wards.

Poudel said the Committee is making preparations to sort out the issue by July 15.

The NC had formed the Active Membership Investigation Committee under the coordination of central member Ramesh Lekhak in which Paudel, Ananda Dhungana, Jeevan Pariyar, Shyam Kumar Ghimire, Kalyan Kumar Gurung, Yogendra Chaudhari are members.

NC is set to hold ward convention on July 27, municipal convention on July 31, province constituency convention on August 4, federal constituency convention on August 7, district convention (with more than one federal constituencies) on August 10.

Similarly, Pradesh Committee Convention will be held on August 17-18 and 14th General Convention on September 1-4.
