Gandaki CM Pokhrel assigns Ministries to Manange and Acharya



KATHMANDU: Almost after one month of swearing in as the Chief Minister, Gandaki Province Chief Minister Krishna Chandra Pokhrel Nepali has assigned ministries, on Sunday, to two ministers formerly appointed as the ministers without portfolio.

CM Nepali appointed Harisharan Acharya of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and Rajiv Gurung alias Deepak Manange as the Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Drinking Water and Minister for Youths and Sports respectively.

Although appointed as Ministers on the same day the CM took to office, Acharya and Manange had been refusing the ministries offered to them claiming for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Ministry for Physical Infrastructure respectively.

After discussions with CM Nepali, they agreed to take over the ministry proposed by the CM.

Earlier, Kumar Khadka of ruling Nepali
Congress and Madhumaya Adhikari of CPN-Maoist Center had taken charge of the Ministry for Social Development and Ministry for Health and Population respectively.

The Gandaki government was formed on June12 under the NC leader Pokhrel.

The distribution of the remaining ministries will take place only after the budget is passed.

In Gandaki, Nepali Congress, Maoist Center, JSP, Rastriya Janamorcha and independent lawmaker have formed a government.

NC and Maoist Center agreed to lead 4 ministries each allocating two for JSP and one of independent lawmaker Deepak Manange.
