Rice ferried to remote Sirdibas Village

GORKHA: After the road transportation was disrupted, a helicopter has been used to ferry 150 quintals of rice to the remote Sirdibas village of Gorkha. Sirdibas lies in the northern belt of the district.

The floods and landslides that occurred at various places disrupted the roadway and trails to reach Sirdibas from Gorkha district headquarters. Food and Trade Company Ltd transported the rice to Sirdibas village by chartering Nepal Army helicopter, said Company’s Information Officer, Shiva Sunar. The rice would be distributed at a subsidized cost.

The food grain was reached to Sirdibas depot with the coordination of Chief District Officer Shaligram Sharma Poudel. The people from the surrounding village Chumchet, Chhekampur, Bihi, Prok, and Lho would be provided the rice from Sirdibas depot located at Chumnuwi Rural Municipality.

It took two days to ferry the food grains by helicopter, said Sunar further, adding that it was delayed to reach the consignment due to adverse weather.
The rice has been stored safely.
