‘Preparedness underway for possible third wave of COVID-19’



MAKWANPUR: Bagmati Province Minister for Social Development Saraswati Basnet has said preparations are afoot by assessing the risk of the third wave of coronavirus.

Speaking at a press conference at the Ministry today, she said that hospitals had been instructed to allocate 20 percent of beds for children with the prediction that children were likely to suffer more by the probable third wave of COVID-19.

As the Minister said, Basnet said that the vaccination campaign against the epidemic would be further strengthened by continuing the implementation of measures to control it with the formulation of a substantive plan.

Vaccines to all were the goal of the government, the Minister said, adding that Rs. 2 billion had been allocated for the vaccination of citizens across the state. She assured of vaccine to all eligible populations in the Province.

According to the Minister, all health institutions are working to control the stem of the virus. Oxygen plants have already been set up at the Sindhuli, Hetauda, Dhadhing, and Trishuli hospitals and the procurement of equipment has reached the final phase for installing in other hospitals.
