KATHMANDU: Heavy rains have been occurring in some places of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Pradesh 1 since Wednesday.

The light to moderate rain is occurring in the Kathmandu Valley since last night.

With the incessant rains pouring down, the water level has surged in the Narayani, Budhigandaki, Trishuli, Bagmati, Marshyangdi, Kaligandaki, Sunkoshi, Tamakoshi, Bhotekoshi, Dudhkoshi, Arun, Tamor, Tinau, Kankai and Kamala rivers.

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has urged people especially those living on the river banks to take precautions, warning of floods and inundation.

Meanwhile, heavy rains are predicted in some places of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Pradesh 1, Pradesh 2 and Sudurapashim Pradesh tonight, said Min Kumar Aryal, a meteorologist.

The weather will gradually improve from Friday, said Aryal.
