Why CPC did not allocate time for Nepali leaders to address World Political Conference?

KATHMANDU: In the World Political Conference organized by the Communist Party of China (CPC) attended by top leaders of around 160 political parties and about 10,000 delegates through virtual media on Tuesday, Nepali leaders did not get an opportunity to express their views.

Chinese President and Chairman CPC, Xi Jinping held a virtual meeting with senior political leaders of Nepal and other countries on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party Tuesday evening.

Prime Minister KP Oli, CPN Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Pashupati Shamsher Rana, among other leaders participated at the conference.

However, the organizer did not allocate time for Nepali leaders to speak. Even though it was said that Nepali leaders, too, would get an opportunity to address for around five minutes, they did not get a chance to speak.

Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, meanwhile, did not attend the conference citing health reasons.

Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered his keynote address from Beijing.

Leaders from South Africa, Cuba, Bolivia, Palestine, Morocco, and Vietnam got the opportunity to address the conference.

Although Prime Minister Oli was asked to address from Nepal, he only attended as a spectator.

Top leaders of UML, Congress, Maoist Center, and RPP, meanwhile, sent video messages after receiving indications that there will be no opportunity to address them.

The organizers gave the opportunity to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan and Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to express their views.
