Dr. KC demands sacking BPKIHS top officials, including VC Giri

KATHMANDU: Professor Dr. Govinda KC has demanded the dismissal of four office bearers, including Vice-chancellor (VC), of Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS).

Stating that VC Gyanendra Giri, the rector, registrar, and hospital director were driving BPKIHS to the brink of collapse, Dr. KC demanded their immediate dismissal.

Issuing a statement Tuesday, Dr. KC said, “The top four office-bearers of BPKIHS have lost all moral and ethical grounds to remain in their posts for a moment longer, considering the current deteriorated situation of the health institute.”

Stating that the top office-bearers appointed on the basis of party affiliation have worked as political party cadres in the establishment, Dr. KC demanded that new office bearers should be appointed on the basis of seniority, honesty, and merit as suggested by the Office-bearers Criteria Determination Committee.

Doctors, students and staff of the institute are also agitating saying that there has been widespread corruption.
