KATHMANDU: Senior Advocate Upendra Keshari Nyapane has questioned whether Prime Minister KP Oli need not resign to let others contest for the post of Prime Minister.

While debating on the ongoing hearing on the issue of dissolution of the House of Representatives on Sunday, Neupane said no one mentioned whether Prime Minister KP Oli resigned from the post.

He further added that the Prime Minister should resign and move ahead with the rest of the process related to the government formation.

“Did the Prime Minister pave way for ’76 (5) or did he block it?” Neupane said before the Constitutional Bench, adding, “Saying ‘I don’t claim, I don’t have a majority, and I don’t want to run and go before others,’ does not suffice. The PM blocked the way for formation of the government rather than letting others try it.”

He reiterated that Prime Minister should have made room for other contestants by resigning from the post.
