Flood in Marsyangdi river collapses a suspension bridge

KATHMANDU: Flood induced by incessant rainfall  has collapsed a suspension bridge in Marsyangdi linking Gorkha and Tanahu districts.

The flooded river led to the sinking of the bridge linking Aabukhaireni rural municipality-2 of Tanahu and Gorkha municipality-14 on Thursday night.

The flood has damaged the part of the bridge towards Tanahu district.

Chief Administrative Officer of Aabukhaireni rural municipality, Bishnu Prasad Pokhrel, said that problem has surfaced in movement of people due to this.

A team of employees and people’s representatives of Aabukhaireni is heading towards the incident site to take stock of the situation.

Pokharel added a team of technicians is also preparing to go to the incident site for assessing the damaged structure.
