KATHMANDU: CPN-UML National Assembly (NA) member Suman Raj Pyakurel has said that a solution to the political dispute should not be sought from the court.
Speaking at the first sitting of the eighth session of the NA on Thursday, Pyakurel said the political dispute was taken to court without understanding the principle of separation of powers and that it should be resolved politically. He added the judiciary wasn’t the place to provide a solution to the political problem.
“We are taking everything to the judiciary without understanding the principle of separation of powers between the executive, the legislature and the judiciary, and trying to harm the judiciary,” he said. “We need to be aware of that. The judiciary cannot be the solution to every political problem,” he said.
NA member Pyakurel claimed that the opposition political parties had advocated for partyless provisions against the spirit of the constitution.
Pyakurel said that political change was possible only with the cooperation of the Left and democratic forces and stressed on the need for unity among all political parties.
