NC was established to protect and promote democracy in the country: Vice President Gachchhadar

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Vice President Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has said the NC was established to protect and promote democracy in the country. Addressing the Lumbini Province level interaction on ‘NC’s 14th General Convention and Way Forward’ today, he reminded that NC played a significant role to protect democracy.

He, however, said, “Democracy is enfeebled because of the weakness of top leaders.

So, NC needs to work effectively to protect democracy.” Vice President Gachchhadar further recollected that the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Democratic was unified with the Nepali Congress for the protection of the constitution and democracy.

The leader ruled out the possibility of postponing the general convention schedule. There should be a fair competition within the party in the coming 14th general convention, he stressed.

On the occasion, NC central member Balkrishna Khand stressed the need to strengthen NC to promote democracy. He admitted that management with the party is ineffective.

All leaders and cadres have an equal role to make NC dynamic. The leadership should focus on how it can attract a new generation to the NC.

According to him, citizen’s rights are protected when the democracy is strengthened.

Similarly, another central member Dr Chandra Bhandari viewed that able leadership with clear party policy and the program can direct the NC in a proper way. NC became weak because of delayed general convention. He pointed out the need to ending groupism within the party.

Former Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission and NC leader Dr Govinda Raj Pokhrel also suggested the leadership that it discussed thoroughly the future policy and leadership of the party in the coming general convention.

Moreover, Lumbini Province Assembly member Nirmala Chhetri hoped the coming general convention could be the convention of consensus, cooperation, and unity.

The program was attended by district presidents of the party from Lumbini Province and the provincial assembly members.

Program coordinator and central member Dr Dila Sangraula informed that the campaign was launched for consolidating the party with the protection of democracy.
