Finance Minister Poudel says parties need not fear fresh mandate

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has said there is a compulsive situation to go for fresh elections and parties need not fear fresh mandate.

Minister Poudel said this while inaugurating Kaligandaki Tinau Diversion Multipurpose Project Office in Butwal on Saturday.

Urging the political parties to start preparations for the election, he said, “After the promulgation of the constitution, the only goal of the country was development and prosperity. But unexpected scenarios emerged in the country. Therefore, the coming elections will ensure development, prosperity and stability in the country. Therefore, parties should not fear to go to the polls.

He also said that the government would vaccinate all Nepalis against COVID-19 by the elections to create an environment in which citizens could go for voting without wearing masks.

He defended the Prime Minister’s move of dissolving the House of Representatives, saying none of the parties could form an alternative government after the PM paved the way.

Minister Poudel added the government would continue to carry out development works promised during the last elections.
