KATHMANDU: Advocates are deliberating their arguments on the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Thursday.

Senior Advocate Raman Shrestha said Article 76 (5) is the super weapon to defend the  House of Representatives (HoR).

Presenting his arguments, Shrestha said, “There have been three minority governments in Nepal so far – one led by Manmohan Adhikari, the other by Surya Bahadur Thapa and the third one by Lokendra Bahadur Chand. These governments did not last for a long time.”

He went on to say that Article 76 (5) has been created concluding that the minority government does not last for a long time.

“President Bidya Bhandari has been saying that the appointment of the Prime Minister is the discretionary right of the President, which is nothing but a height of arbitrariness,” stated Shrestha.

The hearing on the writ petitions had started from Wednesday. A total of five senior advocates presented their arguments on the writs yesterday.

The deliberation on the writs is continuing today.
