13 roads disrupted due to landslide and flood

KATHMANDU: A total of 13 roads have been obstructed while 28 others have been partially obstructed due to the monsoon-induced flood and landslide in the country.

Among the 56 highways and roads where traffic movement has been affected due to the natural disasters since the entry of monsoon, vehicles have begun plying in 15 roads, according to the Department of Road.

Dumre-Beshisashar-Chamre Road linking Manang and Lamjung districts often remain disrupted due to rain-triggered landslide.

Similarly, the road along the Ram Bazar in Lamjung, Arghale, Ghatte Khola and Chyamche section has been obstructed since June 15.

The Department said that the obstruction in the road section in Timang Chahara in Manang district has not been cleared off since May end.

No vehicular movements are recorded on the Arniko Highway since the Liping Bridge was swept away by the flood.

Efforts were underway to clear off the landslide debris along the Kodari and Dam Site section of Arniko Highway.

Balde-Amkot road section along the Sanfebagar-Martadi-Kolti road has been obstructed since June 14.

Likewise, Galchhi-Trishuli-Bennawati section of road in Rasuwa district has been blocked by landslide debris since June 15.

One-way traffic has been resumed in some of the roads that were blocked by the landslides by removing the landslide debris.

Similarly, Rikhari Patal-Chipal Dunga-Tamail section of Khodpe-Chainpur road, Jure section of Arniko Highway have seen one-way traffic operation for some days, according to the Department.
