Govt will take responsibility for care, protection of disabled, neglected children: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the government would take responsibility for the protection and care of disabled and neglected children.

In his address to a central assembly convention of Nepal Bal Bandir (Nepal Children’s Organisation) virtually today, the Prime Minister was of the view that the country could get competent, capable, and dedicated youth leadership if children of today were given proper care, guidance, education and helped to become physically and mentally strong, educationally sound and competitive.

“Though children are the future of the nation, all children had not been able to enjoy their rights and were not properly cared for due to political and social provisions in the past.”

Almost all governments in the past failed to notice this and sometimes organizations like Bal Mandir were used as means of serving personal interests.

Such organizations sometimes present themselves in a restricted scope as opposed to their height and capacity, according to him.

“As a result, Nepali children are left without guardians and there were none to protect them. Besides, our children were used in various ways for personal gains and such things should be stopped completely in the coming days.’’

The Prime Minister promised to provide full support to the Bal Mandir institutionally and physically.

On a different note, he said all Nepali eligible citizens would be given the vaccines against COVID-19.
