JANAKPURDHAM: Province no 2 has made only about 30 percent development expenditure in 11 months of the current fiscal year as infrastructure construction works came to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The province government had allocated a total of Rs 19 billion 190 million 818 thousand as capital (development) expenditure for the current fiscal year.
Of this amount, the provincial government could spend Rs 5 billion 686 million 500 thousand only in the 11 months of the current fiscal year. This is 29.80 percent of the total amount allocated for capital expenditure.
The Province Comptroller General Office Janakpurdham said the provincial government has spent only Rs 4 billion 969 million 200 thousand out of the Rs 13 billion 336 million 916 thousand allocated towards regular or current expenditure heading. This expenditure is 37.25 percent of the total allocated current expenditure.
According to the Office, during the last 11 months, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development has made the highest expenditure.
It has spent 41.14 percent of the total appropriated budget. The Ministry has spent 356 million 81 thousand towards the recurrent head and Rs 3 billion 473 million 45 thousand towards capital heading.
The Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives have made the lowest capital expenditure in the 11 months of the current fiscal year. Its budget expenditure was 13.8 percent only.
The Ministry’s expenses towards the recurrent head is Rs 341 million 61 thousand and towards capital expenditure, a heading is Rs 111 million 484 thousand.
The province government has spent a total Rs 10 billion 655 million 700 thousand in the last 11 months of the current fiscal year. This amount is 31.47 percent of the total budget, the Office said.
