NC leaders meet over lunch at party Vice President Nidhi’s residence

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leaders have been holding a meeting over lunch Monday at party Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi’s residence.

NC Vice President Nidhi, General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala and former Secretary General Prakash Man Singh have been discussing alternatives to incumbent President Sher Bahadur Deuba over lunch.

Nidhi invited Koirala and Singh, among others, to his residence for lunch to celebrate his marriage anniversary.

NC Vice President Nidhi has also initiated discussions with party leaders regarding the upcoming general convention, in which he has revealed his intention to run for the top leadership position in the party. Nidhi is seeking the support of Koirala and Singh in his bid for the presidency. Last year too he had sought their help in this regard.

NC former General Secretary is also planning to contest for presidency and has been seeking the support of other leaders. The three leaders share similar views about party leadership: NC President Deuba should ensure smooth transition of power in the party.

Incumbent NC President Deuba too has been invited to lunch.

Deuba has left Budhanilkantha after discussions with central members of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces at his residence. He is on his way to attend Nidhi’s anniversary celebration after making a few stopovers.

Deuba is scheduled to reach the residence of former Bagmati Governor Anuradha Koirala to attend the 13th day ritual of Koirala’s husband Dinesh Koirala’s demise.
