KATHMANDU: Former Rastriya Janamorcha lawmaker of Gandaki Province, Krishna Thapa has filed a petition demanding his reinstatement in the province assembly.

Thapa has filed his second writ petition on Monday morning.

Thapa was dismissed by his party for not abiding by the party whip to support the then opposition alliance formed under Nepali Congress Province leader Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokhrel.

Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center, Janata Samajbadi Party had formed an alliance against then Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung; however, lawmaker Thapa had sided with Gurung and defied party directives.

Janamorcha had dismissed Thapa from the post of lawmaker for the defiance. Lawmaker Thapa had filed a writ petition at Supreme Court against the party’s decision. Then, a single bench of justice Kumar Chudal had reinstated him on June 6.

However,  after Rastriya Janamorcha and Gandaki Province Assembly Speaker filed a vacate petition against the SC decision, a division bench of  justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha and Kumar Regmi had annulled the interim order issued by justice Chudal’s bench.

Janamorcha had again dismissed him on allegation of not obeying the parliamentary party’s decision.

A bench formed under Justice Sapana Malla Pradhan is supposed to hear on the writ on Monday afternoon.
