KATHMANDU: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has expelled nine leaders of the Mahantha Thakur-Rajendra Mahato faction of the party participating in the KP Oli-led government from the party.
JSP’s Upendra Yadav and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai faction expelled the nine leaders from the party.
According to Upendra Yadav’s press coordinator Mahesh Chaurasiya, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Upendra-Baburam faction held Thursday expelled the leaders, including Rajendra Mahato, from the party.
The meeting has also decided to start the process of taking action against four lawmakers who expressed support for the policy and program of Lumbini Province government.
Similarly, the meeting decided to protest the June 14 decision of the Election Commission (EC) and agreed to file an application with the EC to claiming the party’s authenticity pursuant to Articles 43 and 44 of the Political Parties Act.
The meeting also demanded that the government withdraw its decision of extracting and exporting construction materials from the Chure region. It has also been decided to run Chure conservation campaign from the party level.
Today’s meeting saw the participation of Chairman Yadav, Federal Council Chairman Dr. Bhattarai, leaders Ashok Rai and Rajendra Shrestha, among others.
