Communications Minister Thapa directs for prompt, effective services



KATHMANDU: Minister for Information and Communications, Nainkala Thapa, has instructed the Postal Services Department and the Advertisement Board to deliver prompt and effective services to the people.

During monitoring of the government bodies Wednesday, the Minister urged the people concerned to embrace IT innovations in the service delivery system.

On the occasion, Secretary at the Ministry, Hari Prasad Basyal advised the Board to implement a one-door policy in the distribution of government advertisements. In response, Board chair Laxman Humagain apprised the delegation of what they were going through relating to laws and formulating the Advertisement Code of Conduct.

The Board was established as per the Advertisement (Regulation) Act-2019.

Similarly, the Director-General of the Postal Services Department, Abha Shrestha, spoke of the need of restructuring the postal services mechanism. The Nepal Post was established in 1953 BS as the full agency of the Government of Nepal.

Prior to this, the Minister visited the Nepal Television, Nepal Telecommunications Authority, Nepal Telecom, Department of Information and Broadcasting, Press Council Nepal, Minimum Wages Fixation Committee, and Department of Information and Broadcasting.
