KATHMANDU: Laxmi InterContinental P. Ltd., the authorized distributor of Hyundai Automobiles is betting big on Electric Vehicle space.

Hyundai currently has 2 models of electric vehicles- namely Kona and IONIQ. Within a short span of launch, both these models have been well received and accepted by auto enthusiasts in the Nepali market.

Hyundai understands that the future of automobiles is shifting towards electric vehicles and hence, it is aggressively expanding its product portfolio.

The customers worldwide and in Nepal too, have become conscious of the environment and they want to contribute to its sustainability in some meaningful way.

Switching to electric vehicles happens to be one of the effective ways to contribute. The last budget introduced by the Nepal government had levied additional duties on electric vehicles that led to skyrocketing the price. However, in the recent budget presented for 2078- 79, the duties on electric vehicles have been substantially reduced and Hyundai believes, this will push the consumers to switch to electric vehicles.

Currently, Hyundai has Kona (100 kW battery) priced at NPR. 56.96 lacs, Kona (150kW battery) priced at NPR. 71.96 lacs and IONIQ (100 kW battery) priced at NPR. 57.96 lacs.

Laxmi InterContinental is not only focused on selling its EV brand but is also investing extensively in the installation of Charging points. Hyundai currently boasts of 21 charging points spread across different parts of Nepal. Hyundai owners will have priority on charging their vehicles free of cost however for other brands of EVs, the charging cost may differ as per charging points.
