KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Federal Council Chair Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has argued that if the people like Deepak Manange want to repent and correct their course, they should be given chance.
Responding to the negative media comments about his meeting with newly appointed Gandaki Province Minister Rajiv Gurung alias Deepak Manange, Dr. Bhattarai said on his facebook post, on Sunday that no one is a criminal by birth; hence, those who want to repent and transform themselves should be given chance.
“We have heard the transformation of Ratnakar, a legendary goon, into sage Balmiki; hence if the persons like Deepak Manange want to come in positive role in new life, why to deprive them of it?” Dr. Bhattarai wrote.
He argued that no one is born a criminal, but the society or the circumstances lead one to such roles. Hence, crime or criminal is a relative concept.
