UML Sudurpaschim PP seeks clarification from Oli faction’s seven lawmakers

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Sudurpaschim parliamentary party (PP) has demanded a 24-hour explanation from seven Provincial Assembly (PA) members, close to party Chairman KP Sharma Oli’s party.

PP leader Prakash Bahadur Shah sought clarification for violating the whip issued to vote for Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatt on Tuesday. PA members Pathan Singh Bohara, Liladhar Bhatt, Ratan Thapa, Maya Tamang, Gyalbu Bohara, Nepalu Chaudhary and Baldev Regmi have been asked to submit clarification by 5 pm Wednesday at UML PP office.

They have also been warned of action as per the party’s constitution if satisfactory explanation is not received.

A Standing Committee meeting, comprising only UML Chairman Oli faction leaders, had directed to withdraw its support to the Maoist Center-led government in Sudurpaschim Province. Accordingly, three UML ministers resigned and subsequently, four ministers and three state ministers joined the government.

UML Sudurpaschim PP, dominated by leaders close to Madhav Kumar Nepal faction, decided to retain support to CM Bhatta on Tuesday.
