KATHMANDU: The Nepal-Khanal faction is holding an emergency meeting on Monday.

The meeting will dwell on the six-point appeal issued by Prime Minister KP Oli on the party unity on Sunday night.

In number point four, Prime Minister Oli has stated that the leaders of the Nepal-Khanal faction should withdraw their signatures signed proposing Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the next Prime Minister.

There have been mixed reactions coming from the leaders of the disgruntled faction on the six-point appeal issued by Oli.

Some leaders of the disgruntled faction are positive about the six-point appeal while the others dubbed it as a mere political gimmick to cling on to power in the party.

Youth leader Yogesh Bhattarai, one of the leaders of the Nepal-Khanal faction, actively working to keep the party united, has welcomed the appeal.

Bhattarai has said that the appeal issued by Prime Minister will help keep the party united.

“This statement has paved the way for giving continuity to the task force. It will help the task force to clarify the issues and sort them out,” said  Bhattarai, adding, “The task force should come to the conclusion on the protection of the Constitution, democracy, and the party unity.”

Leaders Surendra Panday, Ghana Shyam Bhusal and Gokarna Bista are also positive about the appeal issued by the party chair,  leaders close to them have said.

However, they have not said anything regarding what they will do to the writ petition filed at the Supreme Court (SC).

Similarly, other leaders Bedu Ram Bhusal and Ram Kumari Jhankri have described the appeal as a mere political card to turn the tables in his favor.

Leader Bhusal has said party chair Oli has thrown a card with an ill intention to conspire against the leaders of the Nepal-Khanal faction.

He said that Prime Minister Oli should call the meeting of the meeting of May 16, 2018, if really wants to take the party back to the previous status.

Similarly, leader Jhankri of the Nepal-Khanal faction has termed the appeal as a conspiracy.

The Nepal-Khanal faction is holding the meeting today to come up with an official view on the appeal. The meeting will take place at 11 am, according to a leader.
