KATHMANDU: Amidst the allegation that the government has reduced the PCR testing of late, Ministry of Health and Population has clarified that the PCR testing has not been reduced.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population Dr Krishna Prasad Poudel claimed on Wednesday that the government has intensified the PCR testing not reducing it.

“There seemed a slight decline in the number perhaps because the people with symptoms did not come for testing or could not go to the testing center due to the injunction,” spokesperson Poudel said, adding, “However, there is no reason to reduce the PCR testing and it has not been reduced.”

He said that the government has increased PCR testing instead of reducing it, and antigen testing has reached 77 districts.

On Thursday alone, 21,773 samples were tested against the coronavirus and 6,825 people were found infected.
