35-year-old doctor succumbs to COVID-19

BUTWAL: A doctor working at the Universal Medical College Teaching Hospital in Bhairahawa, Rupandehi, has died of a coronavirus infection. He died at the Grande Hospital in Kathmandu on Wednesday night.

According to Shushil Gurung, head of administration of Bhairahawa Teaching Hospital, Dr. Pashupati Rajauria died at the age of 35.

The newly married husband and wife were fighting against the coronavirus. However, his wife Dr Hasina Vanu recovered from the virus.

They were both working at the same hospital in Bhairahawa. Dr Vanu is an obstetrician and gynecologist.

Rajouria’s death has shocked health workers in the region.

Gurung said that the hospital family was shocked to lose a very good and diligent doctor. The hospital administration has also informed that his house is in Kapilvastu.

As many as 160 health workers at the same medical college have been infected with the virus. Most of them have recovered from the virus.

According to the hospital’s records branch, Dr. Rajouria did not vaccinate against COVID-19. Both of them, who were recently married, refused to be vaccinated.
