KATHMANDU: Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has warned of taking what he said “tough and strenuous steps” to restore the House of Representatives.

Speaker Sapkota said that he was all set to take some strenuous steps to protect the Constitution, democracy, and people’s welfare.

In a discussion with legal experts in Kathmandu on Thursday, Speaker Sapkota said he was prepared to take some steps by evaluating the pros and cons of the situation.

The legal experts suggested Speaker Sapkota to active for the dignity of the parliament, and defense of the constitution and democracy.

“I want to take the step by keeping the country and the people at the center as per the spirit and letter of the constitution,” Speaker Sapkota said.

Speaker Sapkota, however, did not elaborate on what moves he was going to take.

“I will discuss the issue with the political parties as they are the bearers of democracy,” he added.
