JSP row: Thakur-Mahato group to coax Rai for majority

KATHMANDU: The Thakur-Mahato faction is making preparations to revive erstwhile Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP-N) in case it fails to garner majority in the central executive committee of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP).

The Thakur-Mahato faction will hold an intensive talk with leader Ashok Rai to bring him into its confidence in the central executive committee. Rai has four members in his camp in the committee.  If the faction is able to bring Rai into its group, it will have a majority in the committee.

The faction has already held a one round of talks with Rai.  Renuka Gurung, considered close to Rai, has already joined the Thakur-Mahato faction.

The Thakur-Mahato faction holds majority in the parliamentary party while the Yadav-Bhattarai faction has majority in the central executive committee.

The Yadav-Bhattarai faction came into majority after central executive committee members Mahendra Yadav, Gajhadhar Yadav and Ramesh Yadav, who were earlier in the Thakur-Mahato group, changed the group.

In case they failed to garner majority, they will revive the erstwhile RJP-N, a leader close to the Thakur-Mahato group said.
