Home Ministry calls back mountaineers, urges to relocate settlements to safe areas



KATHMANDU: National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) under the Ministry of Home Affair has urged the concerned bodies to relocate the settlements to safe areas warning a high risk of floods and landslides in the next three days.

Forecasting heavy rains and landslides in all the provinces except Sudurpaschim due to vapory wind blowing from the western Bay of Bengal and ‘Yaas Cyclone’,   the NDRRMA has also called back the mountaineers.

According to NDRRMA, heavy rain compounded with windstorms is expected in the Terai region of Pradesh 1, Pradesh 2, Bagmati and Lumbini Pradesh and moderate snowfall and rain are forecast in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Bagmati and Pradesh 1.

Issuing a press note on Wednesday, the Authority had urged all the concerned bodies to relocate the settlements to safe areas, asking the local units to call at 1155 to inform it about the incidents of floods.

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Vally is witnessing heavy rains since early morning.
