Writ petitions filed demanding reinstatement of HoR, reappointment of PM Oli to post

KATHMANDU: Different writ petitions have been filed at Supreme Court demanding the reinstatement of the House of Representatives (HoR) as well as the appointment of KP Sharma Oli to the post of the Prime Minister on Monday.

Twenty-four writ petitions were filed demanding reinstatement of HoR while four demanding Oli’s appointment to the post of Prime Minister.

A writ petition along with the signatures of 146 outgoing members of HoR demanding reinstatement of HoR was registered Monday while advocates Dhanjeet Basnet, Krishna Bhandari and Rajaram Ghimire, among others, have filed a writ in favor of the re-appointment of PM Oli to the post.

The writ petition filed demanding the reappointment of Prime Minister Oli to the post mentioned that the rejection of reappointment of PM Oli to the post was against the Political Party Act-2017, as there was no concrete basis to get a vote of confidence of the HoR on May 21 as per the Article 76 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal.

Similarly, the writ petition signed by 146 outgoing members of HoR including Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and CPN (UML) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal demanded the reinstatement of HoR and appointing NC President Deuba to the post of Prime Minister as per the Article 76 (5).

The writ petition also demanded to announce the President’s decision of announcing the date of mid-term election for November 12 and 19 by dissolving HoR on the recommendation of cabinet held on May 22 as unconstitutional and illegal, and scrapping it. RSS
