Infection rate to fall after four weeks: Health Minister Tripathi

KATHMANDU: Minister of Health and Population (MoHP) Hridayesh Tripathi has said that the infection will decrease after four weeks.

Speaking at a press conference at MoHP on Monday, Minister Tripathi said, “It seems that a new variant is spreading in Nepal now. It is more deadly than before. Infection is expected to decrease in the next four weeks.”

He said the transition rate has not come down due to mobility of people that had not declined to a larger extent as some services and activities were running even as the prohibitory order is in place.

Stating vaccine procurement efforts were ongoing, he urged the UK, Russia, India and China to facilitate the purchase of the vaccines.
