Prachanda claims SC will decide against the dissolution of the parliament as before



KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the Supreme Court (SC) will restore the  dissolved parliament as before.

Speaking to the reporters after attending the meetinf of opposition alliance at the parliament building on Saturday, Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda said that opposition alliance including his party would protest politically and legally against the unconstitutional step taken by the government.

He claimed that they would go to court against the dissolution of the parliament and the court would decide to restore the parliament as before.

“This move is not only unconstitutional, it is autocratic, arbitrary and regressive,” Prachanda said, adding, “We will go to the apex court against this regressive move.”

Prachanda, along with Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav among many others, had been to the President’s office Friday, claiming for the coalition government under the leadership of NC President Deuba.

They had submitted the list of 149 lawmakers willing to support NC President.

He recalled that the political parties had protested from the streets and the court against the unconstitutional move before and said that they will do the same again.

“The court will finally rule in favor of democracy and the constitution once again and restore parliament. That was seen in the first episode,” Prachanda added.
