Cabinet recommends House dissolution; elections on Nov 12 & 19

KATHMANDU: An emergency meeting of the cabinet has recommended to the President to dissolve the Parliament.

The cabinet has also recommended the President to announce the date for the mid-term elections on November 12, 2021, and November 19 this year.

The move has plunged the country into yet another political turmoil as it combats the coronavirus pandemic.

Prime Minister KP Oli had called a Cabinet meeting at the PM’s official office at Friday midnight after the President’s Office issued a notice invalidating both the claims submitted to form a majority government.

PM Oli and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba had filed their claims earlier Friday.
