UML, JSP urge President not to recognize individual signatures

The President is facing dilemma in deciding as both claims seem to have common signatures



KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) have written to President Bidya Devi Bhandari asking her not to recognize individual signatures in the claims for government formation.

A source at the President’s office said letters have arrived from UML and JSP protesting individual signatures. “They have asked not to give legitimacy to individually taken decisions. Individual decisions are subject to party action,” the source said.

The President is facing a dilemma in deciding as both claims seem to have common signatures. The President will scrutinize both the claims and make a decision after consultation with experts, the source added.

Prime Minister KP Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba submitted their claims to form a majority government earlier Friday as invited by the President on Thursday.
