Maoist Center calls for creating all-party mechanism by scrapping CCMC

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center has called for the scrapping of Covid-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) and forming an all-party mechanism for prevention, treatment and control of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, it also is preparing to set up a separate mechanism for controlling the pandemic. The party’s Standing Committee (SC) meeting held Thursday at central party office at Parisdanda has decided to form a mechanism under the leadership of Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

SC member Lilamani Pokharel said the party mechanism would expand from the center, provinces, and districts to local levels. “We will mobilize the party to prevent, treat and control COVID-19 by setting up a mechanism up to the ward level,” he said.

The Maoist center also demanded dissolving CCMC. “CCMC has become a mechanism for irregularities and corruption,” said Pokharel.

As the CCMC has not been able to contain the pandemic situation, the Maoist Center also decided to set up an all-party mechanism. The all-party mechanism will include parties, stakeholders and volunteers, among others.

The Maoist Center is also planning to set up a fund for COVID-19. The SC meeting has decided to create a central fund for prevention, treatment and control of COVID-19.

The Maoists also concluded that the government had failed in its diplomatic initiatives. The party also decided to take initiative in this regard for the prevention and treatment of the epidemic.

Moreover, the party ranks will be carrying agricultural products to the market and make people’s lives easier. For that, a volunteer squad will be formed from the center to the local level, said Pokharel.

The Maoists have also decided to take the initiative to build an oxygen plant from their own party funds. For that, support and mobilization of the elected people’s representatives will be seen at the local level.

Pokharel said that the government would be informed about all these decisions soon.
