NC expresses worry over PM Oli’s public appeal on eve of by-election



KATHMANDU: The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has expressed qualm over Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli issuing a statement on the eve of by-election of the National Assembly and requesting votes.

The meeting of the NC parliamentary party’s executive committee in New Baneshwor on Wednesday concluded that PM Oli’s action was in violation of the election code of conduct and that he must be held accountable for it. The NA by-election from Bagmati Province is being held Thursday.

The NC has also demanded with the incumbent government to set up well-equipped hospitals in all seven provinces to treat the Covid-19 suspected and infected ones. According to NC chief whip Bal Krishna Khand, the meeting of the NC parliamentary party held at Lhotse Hall of the Federal Parliament building urged the government to be serious about the prevention and treatment of Covid-19 and to treat the infected ones as more and more Covid-19 cases were reported in the country on a daily basis.

NC has also demanded vaccination for all, said Khand, adding that the party has extended its thankfulness to national and international organizations/ agencies and individuals supporting Nepal in its fight against Covid-19. NC has called for more cooperation and support from the national and international organizations to Nepal to contain the Covid-19.
