FECOFUN urges its affiliates to extend help in fight against Covid-19



KATHMANDU: The Federation of Community Forestry Users of Nepal (FECOFUN) has called on its province, district, and local affiliates and the entire community forest user groups for lending help in the management of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Issuing a press statement today, FECOFUN president Bharati Pathak said the community forest users have been urged to use their funds to purchase medical supplies and for other humanitarian assistance as per the local requirements in coordination with the respective local bodies.

Community forests have been requested to provide woods essential for cremations of Covid-19 deaths free as much as possible and let use forest areas for conducting last rites if necessary.

The forest users’ central body wants them to facilitate those families dependent on the forest for livelihood to continue with their occupation at this hard time and assure the supplies for the enterprises requiring forest products as raw materials.

Besides, it has urged its subordinate bodies to do needful to prevent the possible forest encroachment and forest and wildlife smuggling during the prohibitory period by taking all health safety measures.

It has decided to let its community buildings use Covid-19 control and treatment facilities if any local or government bodies demand so.
